The empty room is the most important phase
The first four weeks of live knock down the majority. They are exactly the ones that build everything.
Every live career starts with ten people in the room, the sound out of sync and the desire to close before time. The ladder of those who do live has four rungs, and the first one is called "the base": weeks 1 to 4, almost empty room, few fixed presents.
It's the phase that makes most people give up — and it's the most important. Because it's where you learn the equipment, find the repertoire that works and, above all, meet the schedule even with no one.
Who demands results this month is demanding the wrong thing. What is demanded at the base is constancy: did the live happen? Was the checklist done? Did you call by name those who returned?
In the members' area, the current of nights exists for this: to count the consecutive nights you appear, not the diamonds. The diamonds come in the next step, when the first loyal fans appear.
